judiciary committee, chuck grassley is now asking the justice department as well as the fbi to provide all the names of the individuals who were involved in the investigation into the cia director and also, those who signed off on the court orders that gave investigators access to his e-mail account, eric. >> thank you very much, catherine herridge. representative peter king, member of the house intelligence committee who was in the closed door hearing and questioned david petraeus directly, spoke about what he heard from petraeus. >> i had a very different recollection of what he told us on september 14th. he barely mentioned terrorism at that time. he deemphasized it, he emphasized the video, he emphasized spontaneous demonstration and as far as the terrorist questions, he really minimized it totally. and also on the talking points, megan, which came from the cia, the famous talking points that supposedly susan rice relied on, they said talk came from cia, specifically mentioned al-qaeda and that al-qaeda was involved in the attack. and they left the cia, went to a whole process which i

biographer. the fbi discovered the affair while discovering hostile e-mail's. some of those females were for flirtatcious. >> he is doing an excellent job. he certainly has my continued confidence. his nomination has been put on hold as a prudent measure until we determine what the facts are. we will. a senior defense official says allen has denied wrongdoing. questions are now being raised about the motives of an f-b-i agent involved in the investigation. the agent who was the first person jill kelley approached about broadwell's e-mails had previously sent photos of himself, shirtless, to kelley. that's according to a u-s official.who says that agent was never part of the case. jill kelley tried to claim some sort of government privilege when she called 9-1-1 sunday to complain about reporters outside her home in tampa. >> this should not be able to stay on my property. in reality, kelley is just a volunteer. she is not a government employee, and is not entitled to diplomatic protection. general >> william ward improperly spent thousands of dollars on lavish travel and other expe

. >> next a look at the fbi and its role in investigating cyber related crimes. from this morning's "washington journal" this is about 45 minutes. >> this week's segment involving your money will look at the fbi's role in fighting cyber crimes. and we are talking about-based terrorism, espionage. computer intrusions, major cyber fraud. will learn a little bit, then we will get to your calls and will learn a little bit first from shawn henry, who was the fbi's executive director for criminal and cyber programs. and been in a peer for quite a number of years by thank you for joining us. >> thanks are having. spent first of all what exactly is a cybercrime? >> when you talk about cyber, i think danger to any type of criminal activity that involves the use of the computer i think that's what most people talk about. when i talk about cybercrime on focusing on intrusions into computer networks. so those networks that we all use every single day come to increase efficiency and effectiveness in and our productivity. but those very same things that make those networks were effective for us

, steven mufson will join us for a closer look at that. a bit later in the program, and look at the fbi's cybercrimes unit with the former fbi agent responsible for all cyber crime investigations in the u.s., shawn henry. all of that coming up after this news from c-span radio. >> making history twice within hours today, president obama became the first u.s. president to set foot in cambodia. a country once known for it its killing fields. he left behind flag-waving crowds on the streets of myanmar or downtown came to a near halt during his visit. meanwhile, unlike burma, the white house made clear that president obama is only in cambodia to attend east asia summit and said the visit should not be seen as an endorsement of the prime minister and the government he has led since the 1980's. in the middle east, the palestinian civilian death toll rose today as easterly aircraft struck densely populated areas in the gaza. the overnight airstrike on two houses belonging to an extended clan killed two children and two adults and injured 42 people, according to a gazan official. it attacked a

. many people are saying nothing is quite as absurd as the pandora's box opened by the fbi investigation into subsequent resignation of retired four star general david petraeus and it may have claimed another high-ranking military official, commander of the forces in afghanistan, john allen. florida socialite jill kelley complained about harassing e-mails and contacted a friend at the fbi. the account was found to have belonged to paula broadwell. she was given access to david petraeus. locate the was evidence of an affair between petraeus and miss broadwell. the information was leak and petraeus resigned. as more information trickled out, the story got crazier. the harassing e-mails revealed to be not so threatening. the investigation moved forward because of kel little's friendship with the fbi agent she contacted to complain about the e-mails. a friendship that involved the agent's sharing photo of himself. these photos caused the agent to be remove and launched an investigation into his own actions.

the identity of that fbi agent that tampa socialite jill kely reached out to. fredrick humphrey is the guy's name and you can see him there on the screen. he's a counterterrorism agent who worked in the case of the bomb plot at l.a.x. airport back in '99. the man at the center of the scandal, david petraeus, is set to testify tomorrow morning before closed hearings before the house and senate intelligence committees regarding the attack on benghazi. this comes as the cia inspector general has begun investigating whether any government resources were improperly used in the affair between petraeus and broadwell. "the washington post" sari horwitz is reporting on this as well as bart gelman. this is a huge story. i want sari to give us a sense of the public impact of this thing. i mean, it's getting more like, i guess, the kardashian story, life among these people with mrs. kelley here who, you know, has become the interest of general allen and, of course, she's somehow disturbing the world view of broadwell who seems to be having an affair with general petraeus. all this sort of back and for

acknowledged having with the woman. where does the fbi investigation stand right now? >> in terms of general petraeus, it's been winding down. it was winding down the first week it went public in november. there was no evidence found he had committed a crime, and no indication he had improperly sent classified material out or in any way breached national security. >> was it winding down -- if it was winding down, why did this explode publicly? do you have a good handle on why it became such a sordid sex scandal, if you will? >> any time an investigation concludes, if it's not being prosecuted or it's just being finished, these type of things start to get out. >> the fbi hopes since it was winding down, there weren't serious criminal allegations if you will or violations of national security, they would have liked to have kept this quiet. >> they would have kept it quiet until such time as the case is over and make whatever notifications, but the no notifications of the white house would be determined by the attorney general, and the attorney general could say at this point make the notificat

, there is an ongoing investigation. i don't want to comment on the specifics of the investigation. the fbi has its own protocols in terms of how they proceed. and, you know, i'm going to let director muller and others examine those protocols and make some statements to the public generally. i do want to emphasize what i have said before, general petraeus had an extraordinary career. he served this country with great distinction in iraq, in afghanistan, and as head of the cia. by his own assessment, he did not meet the standards that he felt were necessary as the director of cia, with respect to this personal matter that he is now dealing with with his family and with his wife. and it's on that basis that he tendered his resignation and it's on that waives that -- bass that i accepted it. >> bill: i ran that long just to give you a flavor of what we had to sit through. when did you know about petraeus, mr. president? that doesn't impede on any investigation. it doesn't harm anybody. all it is is you telling the folks what happened. to you. to you. when did you know? with that answer we learned nothing,

openly question whether the c.i.a. director knew he was the suggest of an f.b.i. investigation when he briefed capitol hill. >> on september 14, lawmakers say petraeus seemed wedded to the administration's explanation. >> it's impossible to believe that he thought he was giving us honest assessment. >> leading critic of the obama administration to benghazi tetchered expectation. >> the power in power never likes a select committee but i am hope that the american people will demand it. and i am guardedly optimistic that they will achieve that goal. >> as he walked away from a mid-day news conference senate majority leader harry reid told reporters he would in out support the idea that chair and ranking members of the senate homeland security committee who have their own investigation said the proposal was premature. >> i do not see the benefit nor the need for a select committee. >> in closed briefings today, fox news told the f.b.i. deputy director and his boss robert mueller face hard questions about the f.b.i. petraeus investigation. the acting director of the c.i.a. fielding questio

why they were kept in the dark about a month-long fbi inquiry that ended his tenure at the country's top spy agency. >> this thing just came so fast and so hard, and since then it's been like peeling an onion. every day another peel comes off, and you see a whole new dimension to this. my concern has actually escalated over the last few days. >> and questions also remain about why the president and the white house were not notified about the scandal surrounding petraeus until late last week. republican congressman eric cantor says he was notified back in october after being contacted by an fbi employee concerned that sensitive information may have been compromised. >> once the fbi realized it was investigating the director of the cia or the cia director came one their focus and scope, i believe at that time they had an absolute obligation to tell the president. not to protect david petraeus but to protect the president. >> joining any now is nabokov news chief andrea mitchell. let's start off with there's two lines of investigations we know could take place this week aalone. first,

-mails. >> the f.b.i. has turned over 20,000 to 30,000 pages of documents found during the probe. many are e-mails between allen and kelley sent over the last two years. >> 30,000 pages of e-mails? i can understand that if stephen king and george r.r. martin were having an affair. (laughter) those are some prolific mother (bleep)ers. (laughter) but there's a fine line between seduction and spamming someone. (laughter) i don't think i've got than many e-mails ever and i was on the obama campaign mailing list. so okay the general, his biographer, his successor, and his former deputy have all been caught in big sexy time scandal. but that's it! revelation wise, where's the hunt? >> further complicating the case: officials say the f.b.i. agent who first launched the investigation, a friend of kelley's, is now himself is subject of an internal f.b.i. probe for suspected inappropriate behavior, including sending kelley shirtless photos of himself. (audience reacts) okay, two things. first what does this woman smell like? (laughter) is it a heady mixture of ambrosia and crack? (laughter) is she the

himself was informed by the petraeus affair by a veteran agent of the fbi. top officials had been briefed about the investigation, according to him, including the fbi director, robert meehler. here's what really happened. the decision was made to delay the resignation to avoid potential embarrass men to the president before the election. in short the president or somebody close to him decided to put politics first. and, quote. >> now, conveniently petraeus's decision to step down on friday will also prevent him from appearing before congressional investigators later this week. but that's not the only thing that americans were not told before they filled out their ballots last tuesday. on thursday, two days after the election, we were informed that iran had recently attempted to shoot down a u.s. drone that was flying in international airspace. that happened on november 1. in other words, you were not informed about an act of war perpetrated by a rogue regime that's hell bent on the destruction of israel. why? because politics takes precedence under administration and both post election su
